At this time, Mewar suffered from a hard time as they
suffered from financial crises and lost all the hopes of retaining their lost
territories and their status. Also, this was the time when Maharana Bhim Singh
was born and became the next ruler of Mewar after his father Maharana Hamir
Singh after his death. Well, He was the 67th Maharana of Mewar and also the
minor one after three Maharana’s of Mewar and considered the 4th one who was
minor.
Maharana Bhim Singh became the king of Mewar at an age of 10
years as he was the hire of Maharana Hamir Singh and after his death; he had
the responsibility to take care of Mewar after him. He was raised by his mother
and the wife of Maharana Bhim Singh named Rajmata Sardar Kunwar Jhali, and she
will look after him and as he was the minor his mother take all the decisions
related to him and look for all the current affairs Of Mewar on behalf of
Maharana Bhim Singh. He ruled Mewar for 50 years and face many ups and downs
during his reign because of Marathas and because of the internal issues and
chaos in their kingdom.
When he became the ruler, Mewar already facing a great
threat from Marathas and the other kings of the country and also the Mewar
economy was disturbed and the farmers and the people of Mewar suffering from
huge economic crises. The Marathas get
their foot on the land of India, and they robbed all the treasure of Mewar in
various ways, they made Rajputs week and also attacked their economy which will
lead to the fall of Marathas. Besides this, the farmers of Mewar lack of
fertile land and they didn’t have pastures for feeding their animals to they
fled their land.
Maharana Bhim Singh was financially week that he had to take
money from other kings in order to get married. His family was also very large,
and he had 32 sons. As he was very week and need support, he joined British to
defeat Marathas. But this was the wrong decision of Maharana Bhim Singh as
after that Britishers get control over the political affairs of Mewar and the
Maharana’s of Mewar were forbidden and were not allowed to involve in any kind
of political affairs. Besides this, Mewar has to pay Britishers, a part of his
revenue to the British government, and he was considered lazy and irresponsible
regarding their people. Maharana Bhim Singh died when he was 60 years old and
after that Mewar was ruled by Britishers.
